We like to do lots of cooking and baking together at home, and the holiday season is a great time for baking sweet treats! Ella's Advent calendar on Friday morning had this message: "Bake cookies with Mommy and share some with an older neighbor." Since we were out of some of the basic cookie making ingredients, we resorted to a boxed mix (so unhealthy, but so yummy!) to make cupcakes instead. Ella enjoyed scooping the batter and decorating the tops of the cupcakes (I enjoyed using my new stand mixer)!
After we were done, we made a card for our neighbor, an older woman who lives alone, and set aside a couple of cupcakes for her. We made our delivery and spent some time with her yesterday.
Soon, we'll get started on our cookie making.

What a wonderful tradition to share with someone that is alone. I know that when we took Jerry III over to my mother's home and watched the others that was so over joyed to see the little ones. What great values you both are teaching Ella and Molly.
ReplyDeleteHow kind and sweet of you and the girls to be so thoughtful to the elderly neighbor....cupcakes were so pretty---good job, Ella!
