Tres Leches Cake

Last night our friends, Gwen and Joe (and their boys, Jack and Leo), invited us over for dinner. Gwen decided to do a Mexican theme for the meal, and I offered to bring Mexican rice and tres leches cake.

I have never made a tres leches cake before, but thought it would be the perfect time to try (why do I always experiment with something new when we go to someone's house??). Anyway, this cake is definitely not for anyone watching their weight as it's loaded with 6 eggs, cream, and 3 kinds of fattening milk, hence the name of the cake. It was also my first time using a spring form pan, which worked out well. Here's a picture of how my cake turned out (Rob had to carefully hold it in the car on the ride over, and I now have on my wish list one of those cake carriers).
