Serving Others

Rob and I have been trying to teach Ella (and now Molly, too) about the importance of helping others and sharing the gifts that we have. We are so fortunate to have so much in the way of material wealth (just look at our attics, basements, closets, and garage and what we can give away easily) and live such a comfortable life that it seems a waste not to give to other people.

Recently we've made and delivered meals to two families who just had babies and to another family whose young daughter was hospitalized; Rob ran in a 5 K race for the poor (and came in 23rd out of 77--yea! and Molly "walked"); Ella has been collecting money in a box to feed needy children through church; Ella and I addressed envelopes to deliver as a family to our neighbors for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising drive; and the girls and I visited a local assisted living center with our MOMS Club and planted flowers/interacted with a sweet woman, Dot.

Rob and I want to make serving others so much a part of our daily lives that it becomes a natural occurrence for Ella and Molly. Our hope is that they will grow up to be respectful, polite, empathetic, and generous with their gifts and talents.

What great parents to show and teach Ella nd Molly how important it is to share and help in everyway possible for those less forunate and caring for the Seniors. Rob and you have really set the best way to raise your children. It is a shame that everyone doesn't do what you both are doing with your girls. Great job and great pictures. WONDERFUL PARENTS!
