A Snowy Day

Last Saturday, February 6th, we were snowed in for another storm. Luckily it came on a weekend and we could all be snowed in together. We hung out in our jammies and did some cooking and baking, played, read, and, of course, did lots of shoveling later in the day! The only unfortunate part of the day was that the inclement weather prevented our friends, the Schultz's, from being able to come for dinner.

Ella mixing the Bisquick for the sausage-cheddar balls

Rob and Ella getting their materials ready to put together his workbench

completed sausage-cheddar balls
(we used soy 'sausage' and they turned out well)

Ella sitting on Rob's workbench
(she took the 'bench' part literally)

hammering in some screws

Rob and Ella working together--look at that concentration

holly bush
(my traditional "when it snows" shot)

Rob shoveling
(We love our corner lot....except this very snowy winter!)

Our house is somewhere there buried in the snow
(I really wish I was out cutting the lawn and drinking sun tea!)

Ella's first time shelling a hard boiled egg

still working on that egg---trying to "be very, very gentle"

playing a matching game on Rob's iPod
(it's our new 'incentive' for her)

our snowy day meal--
rosemary roasted chicken and red-skinned potatoes,
spinach salad, and apple croustada

  1. Love these pictures of Ella mixing the Bisquick and those pictures with Rob are priceless using all those tools. I just think those pictures of Ella with such a serious look shelling the hard boiled egg is really something. Dinner looks like something I really would love to eat! What a great cook you are.
