We went for our regular Saturday morning trip to the Glenside Farmers' Market to buy corn and bread (one vendor has delicious pumpernickel/sourdough swirl bread that we can't pass up---she was already sold out by 10:30, so we settled for a loaf of half pumpernickel and half sourdough, instead). We also bought tomatoes (larger ones since ours aren't ripe, yet). Rob bought me a present--3 bars of natural soap with yummy scents like lemon poppyseed and basil herb. We used the corn on the cob and tomatoes as part our meal last night when Rob's family came over for dinner. Here is what we had and how we used some local ingredients:
Appetizer: cheese and crackers
brushetta (farmers' market tomatoes, our own basil)
Main: chipotle grilled chicken breasts
cucumber-avacado salsa (cucumber, tomatoes, cilantro from our garden)
grilled rubbed corn on the cob (corn from the market rubbed with chili
powder, cumin, butter, then rewrapped with husks and grilled)
Dessert: chocolate peanut butter cup cake

That chocolate peanut butter cup cake looks delicious!!!
