Double Whammy

Poor Ella has been fighting a cold for the past week and finally had a fever all day yesterday and was just not herself...turns out that she has double ear infections. Thankfully, we've already seen a big improvement since last night now that she's on an antibiotic---she is such a tough little girl (and polite, too--even with a 102.5 fever, she told her doctor, Donna, "thank you, bye" as we were leaving the office).

It may have helped that her friends were here today to visit for playgroup. More importantly, we hosted a baby shower for one of our moms, Sherri, who is going to be the first of our group to have a second baby. We had fun outside (even though it's close to 90 degrees, again) for lunch and playing, and then inside for more playing, presents, and cake.

On another note, the mother robin has been dutifully sitting on her eggs, even when we are hanging out and playing close by on the porch. When she did leave for a minute, I took down the plant for the kids to see the nest, telling them that there were three birdie eggs inside. Instead, look what we found today:

Do we have a communal nest here or do robins just lay eggs on different days rather than all at once? Guess I'll have to "look it up on the Internet!"
